Nearly every week, we have 3 time periods set aside to do Center Time! It is a real highlight for both the children and for me! I create about 12 activities and the children rotate through these activities over a 3 day time period. Each child will get to do each activity, if they are working hard each day. The purpose of the centers is 1) to reinforce the skills we are learning, 2) to work independently in the classroom, 3) to meet individual needs of individual children, and 4) to enjoy the learning and exploring that is happening. We need extra hands, hearts, and minds to be able to meet all of these goals. I have some great volunteers at this time, but I do need at least 1 more person to help on on both Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The time is from about 10:00 to 11:00. I have some children that are ready to do some more advanced reading and some others who need to have more reinforcement on the beginning skills. To meet those needs, I need more help in monitering center activities. Please let me know if you would like to try this a time or two and see how it "fits". The ladies that are coming seem to just love it! (We would love to have some men, too, maybe dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or friends.)
