Reading is the very core of our curriculum in the school system and also in Kindergarten. The children this year are beginning to read sight words and stretch out short vowel 3 and 4 letter words. That means they can read!! They are also preparing for more extensive reading later on. One of the things we work on is comprehension. They must understand what they are reading to be able to use it later. We made puppets and houses to re-tell the story of "The 3 Pigs." The kids had a great time doing this and it really is an essential element to reading. I hope you were able to hear the story several times at your house!
